Edinburgh Communications and subsidiary Edincomm have provided a suite of security, network and Internet solutions to our clients since February 2014.
During that period, we had several requests to provide hosted Telephony services. With two Cisco Certified VoIP CCNP’s on the team, we explored the possibilities of building our own hosted solution. However, on crunching the numbers, it was quickly realised that the ROI would be several years.
We then began the search for a partner with VoIP capabilities. Unfortunately, we found their offerings to be either too complex, expensive or in most cases, both.
Wrestling with how to move things forward, we received a call from Byphone asking if we would be interested in looking at their solution.
That was our first meeting with our account manager, James Wells. James travelled to Edinburgh to demonstrate the simplicity and extensive capabilities of their hosted solution. James had a refreshing approach. He allowed the product to sell itself with no sales patter and answered our questions concisely and accurately.
After a short discussion within the team, we decided to trial the solution for ourselves to ensure we were well versed in the product. It didn’t take long before we signed up as a Byphone partner after several clients expressed their interest. The next step was a trip to Byphone’s offices in Belfast for an introduction to the team and in-depth training on the system. We were made very welcome and it was a great opportunity to see them in action. That trip was key to building the close relationship we have now.
Since then, we have deployed several hundred users in the SME space to both existing and new clients. They are impressed with the call flow simplicity, pricing model and the considerable savings on decommissioning their on premises systems and ISDN lines.
We have found the Byphone team to be efficient in rectifying the few issues we have experienced, and the developers are very receptive to feature requests and suggested improvements to the system.
James has been a great asset for us over the last couple of years. We receive regular updates on new capabilities and features, and he is always available either by phone, email or regular face to face meetings to offer advice and answer our questions. Beyond the Byphone solution, James has put us in touch with their financial partners, providing us with leasing options. This has switched our sales model from Capex to Opex, opening many new opportunities. Often, we introduce the Byphone solution to new clients and that leads to requests for further services.
Partnering with Byphone has probably been one of the best decisions we have made over the last 5 years. They have been a pleasure to work with and we really feel they are part of our team.
