Announcements are files containing sound recording files that have many uses. They may be the message for an IVR, or they may be a queuing message for a ring group etc.
The guide below outlines how you create an announcement. To answer a call with an announcement you need to attach it to the inbound number within the inbound routes section.
To play the announcement as a holding message for a ring group you need add it to the ring group settings against the announcement field.
How to create an Announcement
Go to Favorites
Go to Announcements
Click Add Announcement button
In the Description field - add a relevant description
In the Recording field - select a recording from the drop down menu, or to add additional recordings use the "System Recordings" section under the "Favorites" tab.
In the Repeat field - select a repeat amount from the drop down menu
In the Allow Skip field - Set the toggle button to (Yes) if you want the caller to be able to skip hearing the announcement
In the Return to IVR field - Set the toggle button to (Yes) - If this announcement came from an IVR and this is set to yes, the destination below will be ignored and instead it will return to the calling IVR. Otherwise, the destination below will be taken. Don't check if not using in this mode. The IVR return location will be to the last IVR in the call chain that was called so be careful to only check when needed. For example, if an IVR directs a call to another destination which eventually calls this announcement and this box is checked, it will return to that IVR which may not be the expected behavior.
In Don't Answer Channel field - Set the toggle button to (Yes) if you want to keep the channel from explicitly being answered. When checked, the message will be played and if the channel is not already answered it will be delivered as early media if the channel supports that. When not checked, the channel is answered followed by a 1 second delay. When using an announcement from an IVR or other sources that have already answered the channel, that 1 second delay may not be desired.
In the Destination after Playback field - From the dropdown menu - Select where to send the caller after the announcement is played.
Click on the Submit Information button at the bottom right of the page.
Click on the Apply Config button at the top right of the page.
How to edit an Announcement
Go to Favorites
Go to Announcements
Under actions click the edit button = View or Edit
Within this area you can change the Description, Change the recording played, Edit playback options
When you have finished editing the settings
Click on the Submit Information button at the bottom right of the page.
Click on the Apply Config button at the top right of the page.
